Sitting Up While Sleeping: What It Means and How to Handle It

Use a sleep sack instead of loose blankets. A sleep sack keeps the baby warm without extra fabric that could cover the face. If your child is older and can roll, make sure the crib sides are high enough so they can’t climb out.
Watch for signs of discomfort. If your child is constantly sitting up, they might be too hot or need a better pillow. Adjust the room temperature and consider a small, flat pillow designed for toddlers.
Finally, stay calm. A child sitting up isn’t usually a cause for alarm. Keep an eye on them for a few nights; if the behavior continues and you notice breathing issues, talk to your pediatrician. With a few simple changes, you can help your child sleep safely and comfortably.
