Desiring to start a new mission some where in Nandganj, Br. Viswas, IMS requested the permission of the Superior General of IMS and Bishop Patrick D'Souza. In the third week of December 1976 he started residing in Nandganj. On January 4, 1977 the mission was formally opened. In July 1977, Fr. Manohar, IMS was sent as helper to Br. Viswas, IMS. In the beginning of 1980 the mission centre was shifted from the town to a house built in the village called Belasi. Br. Nirmal, IMS built the house and named it Vishwa Bandhu Ashram. Fr. Dilraj, IMS was appointed there and he built a chapel in 1990 and it was blessed on May 07, 1992. Later Frs. Amoolya, Dinesh, Premprasad, Shailakash, Ashok, Ranjan, Jagdish, Premraj, Naveen and Dhyanchand were appointed as incharges. SRA sisters joined the mission by opening a convent and dispensary in 1980. The mission is involved in catechetical, health and social work. |
