While Father Atul Muriankary was the parish priest of Jaunpur, in 1986 he started a school in a rented house with 130 students in Mariahu town. In 1988 it was handed over to Ms. Anupa. A number of Catholics and Kristh Baktas live in and around Mariahu. Many of them were teaching in the teaching in the school. They were going to Jaunpur or Bhadohi for their spiritual needs. Since 1990 Priests from Bhadohi were taking care of the pastoral need, of the area. Father Sushil Kumar Tirkey started to live in Mariahu from the year 2006. The diocese bought a piece of land there in 2009 and Priest's house was constructed in 2012 by Father William Fernandes. |
