St. John's School, Marhauli, Varanasi was established in 1987 basically in view to educate the Catholic Community and was a part of St. John's Parish, D.L.W. As the School developed, quite a few Catholic staff members were appointed and almost 90% of supportive staff appointed were Catholics. Hence a great need was felt to have a Church nearby, for the faith formation of the Catholics. Accordingly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Patrick D' Souza, the Bishop of Varanasi on January 01, 2006, blessed the foundation stone for the Church. The Church was blessed and dedicated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Patrick D'Souza on March 28, 2007. Rev. Fr. Peter Colaco was appointed as the first Parish Priest. Sisters of the Holy Cross of Chavanod are actively involved in the Parish activities. The Minor Seminary of the Diocese is situated in the Parish. The parish, the seminary and St. John's school are complementing entities sharing pastoral objective. |
