About |
This station which had been started from Francispur became an independent Parish in 1950, with Fr. Yvon, OFM. Cap., as the first Parish Priest. Among those who worked here, Fr. John Mary Vianney is one frequently remembered. The present Priest House was blessed in 1971 along with the Convent. Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles came in 1953. Sisters are involved in the work of evangelization, health and education. There are two boarding houses, one for girls (class I-XII) the other for boys (class I-XII). The girls' boarding was raised to higher so that more girls could have access to higher education. From Jamwaon parish, two more visiting centres were in contact. One at Lahasani and another at Hardia, Karsi. In Lahasani, a primary school was built by the mission to educate the village children. This school is no more with the diocese. The other visiting station has been established as the independent station in 2004. Another piece of land is located just three kms from Nagara, close to Lahasani village. Fr. Valerian D'Souza assured the possession of the land by building the compound wall. |
