Hartmannpur is the fruit of the missionary endeavours from Ghazipur, of Allahabad diocesan clergy. The Canadian Capuchins took over from them, built the old presbytery and the spacious college building, which has been expanded. The Church, built by Fr. Charles, was blessed on February 11, 1940. The service of Fr. Crusbhakt IMS can never be forgotten to bring many people to the knowledge of Christ. Fr. Augustine D'Souza served the station for a record time of twenty years as Principal of Inter College. Sr. Francisca's tireless travels into all the villages and making all the girls and women self reliant was one of Jesus service to the poor. The Mariyan Shrine was built in 1979 under the guidance of Father Augustine, and Sister Francisca started gathering the Mahila Sangh units of the Diocese, and the place gradually is developed as a Pilgrim Centre; and the annual celebration is held in the month of October. In June 1997 this Parish was entrusted to MSFS Fathers. In 2008 the MSFS Fathers handed over the parish to the diocesan clergy. The mission has an inter college and two boarding houses, one for girls (class I-V) the other for boys (class VI-XII). |
