For a long time Birabhanti was a sub-station of Francispur. Franciscan Missionary Brothers were the pioneers of this Parish. For many years they served the people around, many of whom accepted the faith. The name of Fr. Laurent, OFM. Cap., will always be remembered for his dedicated service in this Parish. The Church was blessed on October 6,1968. Sisters of Apostolic Carmel opened a convent in 1971. They are fully involved in the catechetical and evangelization and educational work in the mission. The girls boarding serves with a great encouragement for village girls to be regular to school where girls' education was being greatly neglected. The Maids of the Poor sisters were engaged in medical ministry till September 2008. There is a boarding house for boys and another for girls. The boarding house does a great service by admitting Catholics, specially girls to encourage them for study and empower them for a brighter future. |
