In 1981, Fr. Francis Machado opened a School at Nai Bazar. Congregation of the Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles offered their Services to run the School. Along with school a need was felt to do the evangelization work among the carpet workers. Bhadohi, being the centre of carpet industry, many labourers come from Chatisgarh, Chotanagpur and other adivasi areas to work in the carpet industries. The parish took up the responsibility of establishing relationship with carpet workers and provide for the spiritual guidance. Frs. Thomas Lakra, Thomas Beck and Marianus Kerketta are much remembered for their work among carpet workers. Sisters of Helpers of Mary joined with another mission of health ministry for the TB and leprosy patients. In 2013 a piece of land was purchased at Pachwal and the Congregation of Missionary Sisters of Mother Mary started their first house. They are involved in family visits and education of the children of surrounding area. |
