MIssionary Meeting 2016



Diocesan Annual Missionary Meeting was held on 14-15 July 2016 at Nav Sadhana, Varanasi. Around 225 missionaries of our diocese participated and benefited from the meeting. The meeting began on 14th of July at 9.30 am with Bible Procession. The Holy Bible was brought to the dais in procession by Fr. Sushil Prakash. It was received, garlanded and revered by Rt. Rev. Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi. Fr. Arockia Dass read the word of God and Fr. Vijay Shanti Raj said a reflective prayer. Rt. Rev. Eugene Joseph Bishop of Varanasi introduced Fr. Panneer Selvam the resource person and the topic of the meeting - Post-Synod Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia - "The Joy of Love" In the first session, Fr. Panneer Selvam educated the participants about Amoris Laetitia by presenting the content of the Exhortation. He made everyone to realize that every single sentence from 325 paragraphs of the Exhortation is very important. In the second session, the pastoral nature of the Exhortation was presented to reflect upon the family mission works of the diocese. This encouraged everyone to be a sign of Mercy wherever family life remains imperfect or lacks peace and joy. Before the lunch break all gathered in the chapel for the Eucharistic Celebration. In the short homily, Bishop Eugene Joseph explained the importance of yoke of Christ in the lives of the disciples. He emphasized that we accomplish our mission not merely by our heroism and capacity but with the help of Christ our Savior. In the third session Bishop Eugene Joseph instructed fathers and sisters about the cleanliness of the church. He emphasized to have Indian culture in all our worships and rituals. The fathers and sisters from different mission stations shared about their mission activities. Mainly they put forward the functionality of SCC in the mission stations. Evening at 6.15 pm a stage drama called Mann Maya was presented to the participants and the neighboring communities. The Drama depicted the infinite mercy of God. It was a joint venture of Diocesan Social Communication Centre and Vishwa Jyoti Communication Centre, Produced by Diocese of Varanasi. The Drama and the artists were introduced by Fr. Anand Mathew IMS the director of Vishwa Jyoti Communication Centre. On behalf Bishop Fr. S. Joseph, the Director of Diocesan Social Communication, thanked the team and the audience. In the second day Fr. Panneer Selvam led the participants in to spiritual applications of the Exhortation. He helped to enter into a spiritual realm of mercy of God. Every session started with praise and worship lead by Fr. Arockia Dass and Sr. Sulekha SRA. The meeting came to an end with Holy hour and benediction. On behalf of Bishop Fr. Y.
