Gandhi Jayanti Celebration in Varanasi Jail
On 2nd of October 2016, Diocese of Varanasi organized Gandhi Jayanti celebration in Varanasi Jail. On this special occasion Rev. Bishop Eugene Joseph inaugurated a tailoring centre in the women’s cell. Children from St. John’s School DLW presented a prayer dance. Premal Jyoti School (School for the Street Children) of helpers of Mary gave one social awareness program for the jail inmates. In his speech, Bishop Eugene Joseph emphasized that Gandhiji is known in the world for peace and truth. He served for others to show the way of truth. He also said that whenever Gandhiji went to jail he collected the Jailers and organized prayer meetings for them to help them to know the Truth. Sr. Leelamma OLP, the Regional Superior of OLP, Fr, Susai Raj the Principal of St. John’s School DLW graced the occasion with their presence. The event was well coordinated by Fr. Kasper Manimaran.
