||Records say that at one stage of the last century Jaunpur had over 600 Catholics. No one seems to know where the Church was. The Catholics were probably in the court and in the army.
In 1971, Fr. Dominic Karikattil opened this station in a rented house.
In 1974, Ursulines of Mary Immaculate joined the ministry here. The Ursuline sisters have a school up to class XII.
In 1997, Fr. Peter Colaco purchased a piece of land about
7 km away from city on the way to Shahganj at Siddiqpur and established another school named St. John's School, which is up to class XII. Sisters of St. Anne of Thiruchirapalli joined the ministry at Siddiqpur.
Our desire is to set up a parish Church in Jaunpur city.
