Diocesan Divine Mercy Convention

The first three days of Six days Diocesan Divine Mercy Convention began on 9th of February at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Varanasi, under the leadership of Father Anil Dev IMS and team. Holy Bible was brought to the sanctuary of the cathedral in procession where it was garlanded and venerated by Right Reverent Eugene Joseph, Bishop of Varanasi. The lamp was lite to mark the beginning of the convention by Bishop Eugene Joseph, Father Anil Dev IMS, Father Jose Prakash, Sister Anni SRA and two of the Parishners.

In His inaugural address Bishop Eugene Joseph explained the purpose of year of Mercy inaugurated by Holy Father Francis. He beautifully placed the biblical meaning of mercy and enlightened all to implement them in our lives with the guidance of mother church. He invited people to experience the joy giving love of God to attain fullness in life.

Father Jose Prakash read from the Holy Bible and prayed for the spiritual Guidance from our master Jesus Christ. While the gathered congregation was invoking for the blessings of Holy Spirit, Bishop and priests sprinkled holy water and blessed them.

Father Jose Prakash led the people in to a journey from Old Testament to New Testament, to know the Merciful love of Heavenly father for his Children. He helped the people to forgive and love those who hurt us.

Father Anil Dev helped the people to understand that we are image of God and the well-known image of Him is Mercy in the person of Jesus.

He also said that God has given us lots of power; the greatest one is Mercy and compassion. We have to empty ourselves the negative powers of hateredness , angers, revenge etc in order to allow Heavenly father to fill us with his Mercy and Love.

During the Eucharistic Adoration father Vineet helped the faithfuls to receive the mercy of God. All most 1200 people participated and experienced tremendous spiritual energy and the unending Love of God.

The People departed to their house with simple supper provided in the cathedral campus.
